Laura Linney's portrayal as vulnerable, yet strong characters has helped make her one of the most popular American actors. Born to a renowned playwright's father but raised by a single mother who worked in the field of nursing, she became interested in theatre while spending summers with her father and eventually pursuing a degree in acting initially in Brown University and then at Juilliard School. When she graduated from Brown University she started making her Broadway debut in the following year. In the space of two years from that, her first film hit the market, and next year she made her television debut. In the years since, she's appeared in numerous film, TV as well as stage productions. Her achievements have been numerous during her professional career, which included four Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. In spite of her many accolades, she is still a lover of acting and has performed on stage and screen.
